Streetsense Managing Director, Public Non-Profit Solutions Larisa Ortiz was named one of Crain’s New York Business 2023 Notable Leaders in Real Estate, an award that “recognizes the New Yorkers generating innovative ways to design, create, and market residential and commercial property.”
Larisa Ortiz leads economic development consulting engagement for Streetsense’s municipal and non-profit clients, including Business Improvement Districts. With an educational background from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Larisa also traveled the world collecting case studies on how to best build thriving cities. A retail real estate planning veteran, Larisa spearheaded multiple COVID recovery efforts, creating forums and tools alongside NYC’s Department of Small Business Services and the NYC Regional Plan Association. Larisa led the creation of a series of capacity building toolkits for the City of New York, offering tactical recommendations for Business Improvement District leaders in the areas of marketing, branding, vacant storefront activation, and equity.
Her community involvement includes such positions as Former Commissioner, New York City Planning Commission; Member, National Community Advisory Committee, ICSC (Innovating Commerce Serving Communities); Member, Regional Plan Association (RPA) New York Committee; Volunteer Instructor, IDA (International Downtown Association) Emerging Leadership Fellows Program; Volunteer Board Committee Member, River Cities, Scenic Hudson; Volunteer Advisory Board Member, Small Business Anti-Displacement Network, University of Maryland; Member, International Economic Development Council; Member and Former Member, International Downtown Association; Member, American Planning Association Metro Area Chapter.
