Nestled in the Bahia de Banderas where the mountainous jungle and crystalline sea collide, Spice Market at the W Punta Mita offers a unique cuisine to the region. Opened in 2014, the Streetsense licensed restaurant is not only a staple stop for luxury-lifestyle travelers and well-heeled residents of Mexico’s breathtaking pacific coast, it is the region’s premier dining destination. Nine years on, Streetsense continues to work collaboratively with the local team to position Spice Market for future success.

Last month, Streetsense organized a visit to the property to spend quality time with the Spice Market team. Our Hospitality Strategist, Rachel Wagers—fresh from an immersive week with the team at Spice Market San Miguel de Allende and armed with more than a decade of defining top-tier service standards—immediately identified how to both elevate the guest experience while coaching the capable local team on how to provide service with an unforgettably personal touch.

Our Culinary Director, Bradley Deboy, through virtual consultation ahead of our visit, developed a fresh new menu concept that embraced local ingredients, leaning on his deep knowledge of both traditional flavors and modern technique. Once on site, Brad empowered the highly capable culinary team to collaborate on a more dynamic and seasonally specific menu while coaching each team member on mastering their craft from wok to wood-grill.

“The goal for this visit was to continue the evolution of our licensed restaurant brands,” said Director, Alex Barrow. “Too often, even the most ambitious of restaurant concepts aren’t given the ongoing attention they need after they open. A restaurant needs to be treated as a living, breathing organism that must stay fresh or risk being left behind. No matter the potency of the concept, training and development are the backbone of sustained success in this industry.”

This year, the Streetsense Hospitality Consulting team continues to develop our licensed restaurant brands and look for new opportunities across our portfolio—10 in operation across the globe—to provide each with a locally-focused and actionable playbook of impactful evolution that ensures they continue to be competitive in their markets. Leveraging a unique combination of skill sets on the team, Streetsense is able to outline achievable interventions that lead to short-term wins while also planning for longer-term growth and investment.

At W Punta Mita, the Streetsense Hospitality Consulting team worked tirelessly on the concept fundamentals—experience, mood, menu, service, music, and OS&E—and next up is supporting a clear case for a capital investment into this successful venue. With additional attention to profit-driving activations, updated interiors, and a full menu refresh, together with a first-class local team, Streetsense is excited to be moving forward with the next chapter of Spice Market Punta Mita.
