Designing a Restaurant with Hearth and Soul

Streetsense worked with Chef Jeremiah Langhorne to design The Dabney, a nationally acclaimed restaurant focused on locally sourced Mid-Atlantic cuisine.

Inspired by Blagden Alley’s colonial-era roots, the space emulates a warm and gracious 18th century home — from the brick entryway to custom tabletops influenced by the floors in Jefferson’s Monticello to the central cooking hearth, a 10-foot long brick fireplace visible from every seat. Lofted above the restaurant’s intimate patio, a trellis supports a garden that provides fresh herbs and produce for the restaurant’s cocktails and dishes.
