Rafferty creates a landmark living environment in Santa Ana, CA, featuring 220 residences, retail, dining, and more, seamlessly integrated with the organic character of the surrounding downtown district.
The project was awarded a 2022 GDUSA American Graphic Design Award for Branding + Identity.
An homage to Manuela Budrow Rafferty, a famed Spanish singer and composer who lived and performed in Santa Ana, Rafferty was designed by Streetsense to reflect and enhance the organic character of downtown Santa Ana. The brand’s bright, retro-inspired palette and punchy, percussive messaging combine to channel the invigorated energy of downtown Santa Ana into Rafferty’s modern, colorful community.
Within the brand pattern, there are many symbols that tie back to Manuela Budrow Rafferty and the rich history of Santa Ana. The pattern depicts outlines of the Yost Theater and the Orange County Title Co—both popular Santa Ana landmarks. The pattern also pays homage to Manuela Budrow Rafferty’s famed guitar and nickname “Songbird.”
