We’re so excited to share a closer look at our design for The Elm, a premier luxury rental community in Bethesda, MD. Our team traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark to research Scandinavian design and the concept of fika — the beloved daily ritual of breaking for coffee and cake with friends — sparked the inspiration to bring The Elm to life.
Roam around The Elm and you’ll see design touches centered around fika, starting with deep-channeled fabric walls that dampen sound and create comfortable, intimate nooks to connect with fellow residents or friends. The custom-carved walnut and brass concierge desk from North Carolina artist Casey Johnson greets residents and visitors alike with soothing lines and warm, natural materials. Get a glimpse of the custom touches that embody fika from the stunning two-story lobby that encourages connectivity while fostering intimate moments.
