Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our Eat + Drink team worked with public and non-profit entities around the country to help set the stage for business recovery and resiliency. By providing coaching directly to cities, counties, states, business improvement districts, and other place-based management entities, we helped businesses develop and implement strategies to open, grow, and recover from the effects of the pandemic. Clients include the City of Sacramento, CA, the Queens Economic Development Corporation, and the Downtown Alliance (New York).
Our Approach
Our approach is rooted in bringing creative concept development, market research, financial analysis, operator consulting, and food & beverage expertise to the table to help business owners understand how to do everything from streamline operations to change marketing and operating procedures – changes that will help set the stage for long term recovery and resiliency.
We are particularly proud of our work with the Downtown Alliance, where we engaged with dozens of small businesses as they sought to navigate the sometimes complicated cauldron of rules, regulations, and new business models required for survival during the Pandemic. Our newest collaboration, entitled “Lower Manhattan Jump Start”, is an ambitious program that will provide qualifying businesses with four technical assistance sessions customized based on their needs, including physical operations, digital marketing, public relations, and e-commerce. Streetsense also develops a launch plan tailored to each respective business.
Eligible participants must be new, local businesses within the district who have signed leases of at least a year. Acceptance into the program is made on a first-come, first-serve basis and is a follow up to the Downtown Alliance’s earlier work with Streetsense during the height of the pandemic where our team provided 35 small businesses with one-on-one technical assistance. The Alliance later awarded 27 of those businesses with an additional $3,000 grants to implement the recommended changes.
