Originally constructed as an enclosed mall in the 1960s, Annapolis Town Center was redeveloped into a combination power center and mixed-use development in 2008. Since then, its developer Trademark Property desires a refresh of the project due to a loss of tenants to nearby retail centers. Streetsense was asked to reimagine the site’s identity through its branding, buildings, and public spaces. A collaboration of Streetsense’s Urban Design Studio and Brand department gives a complete effort and ensures Annapolis Town Center will be competitive now and in the future.
The Urban Design Studio analyzed the site and its surroundings to find opportunities to reprogram commerce, open spaces, and the connecting pathways. The Brand department developed an identity strategy with a new logo to pique interest and public perception. Wayfinding signage and environmental branding elements integrate Brand’s work into the site.
The new material is a contemporary interpretation of the sailing and aquatic culture rooted in Annapolis. This style is seen in amenities like kiosk structures, vegetation, and a landmark programmable shaded lawn that supports outdoor dining and events. Wayfinding strategy is applied to the site through signage, messaging, and branding to welcome guests onto the site to its commerce core.
